Makhachkala, June 9, 2015. Today, the Head of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov and the federal minister for North Caucasus Affairs Lev Kuznetsov examined the high mountainous road damaged by a landslide caused by the construction of Gotsatlinskaya hydroelectric power station and the progress of constriction of the highway of republican significance "Pod-Karada", the governmental press service informs.

The first deputy head of the Agency for Transport and Roads RD Magomed Tagirov who accompanied the top officials reported that the damaged sector of the road was an essential component of the core network of roads in the republic, providing non-turnpike traffic with four mountainous municipal districts. According to the officials, the situation was aggravated by additional damage, the probability of occurrence of which had not been foreseen, due to which its operation would be possible only after the major reconstruction carried out taking into account the negative impact on the geological environment of the reservoir shores.

In turn, Lev Kuznetsov pointed out that the road indeed was the most important facility for the residents of mountainous Dagestan - “It is urgent to put it in order and work further on the completion of the project”. Noteworthy, the total cost of repair and reconstruction works is estimated at 354.388 million rubles.
