Makhachkala, November 26, 2014. The 12th Open regional contest of video and animated films about folk art, folk heritage, ethnography, history and local history called "Rainbow" will be held in the conference hall of the Gamzatov National Library in Makhachkala on November 26, a source in the Folk Art House of Dagestan ministry of culture told RIA "Dagestan".

The event is supported by the Russian Ministry of Culture, the Russian State House of Folk Art, and Dagestan Folk Arts House in partnership with a number of Dagestani ministries and departments.

Since 2003, the topic of the contest has been the same - holidays, culture, traditions, customs, rituals, and culture carriers. This year’s emphasis was Dagestani authors from state-owned, student, municipal, and private studios, plus 2 original works from the Stavropol and Omsk regions.

The contest presents over 30 works from Makhachkala, Yuzhno-Sukhokumsk, Derbent, and Kizlyar, of which only 14 will compete. The videos will be judged on nominations like the best screenwriting, cinematography, direction, soundtrack, and animation.

A jury of well-known film and television directors, cameramen, artists, and art critics is to decide who wins the contest and later award the winners. Traditionally, all the awardees will be aired on GTRK (State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company) and RGVK Dagestan TV channels.
