Renowned guitar player Artem Dervoed gives master class for young musicians in Daghestan

Makhachkala, May 27, 2014. Renowned guitarist Artem Dervoed, a senior teacher of folk string instruments for the Gnessin Academy and a winner of international awards who arrived in Daghestan to participate in the 7th International Music Festival "Port-Petrovsk Assembly-2014", gave a master class in the Gassanov Makhachkala Musical College, a source in the Daghestan Ministry of Culture told RIA "Daghestan".

Participants were able to gain the full knowledge – for 3 hours was the master revealing his secrets of mastery. Artem Dervoed devoted an hour to a pupil and a student, working carefully and meticulously, without omitting a single detail. Then he gave a lot of advice to guitar players.

Dervoed says he really liked Daghestan - he had time to see Makhachkala and Kizlyar where gave a small concert and a master class at the #1 Children's Art School.

"You are a land of kind, hospitable people, with lots of young talents. I am glad they learn from good teachers. I think they’ll have a bright future full of success and victories," he said.

Artem Dervoed, one of the best guitarists in the world, gave a concert in Makhachkala May 21, at the 7th International Music Festival "Port-Petrovsk Assembly-2014". He devoted the concert to one of the world's greatest composers Niccolò Paganini who won his fame not only as a legendary violinist, but being one of the best guitarists of his time.

The 7th International Music Festival "Port-Petrovsk Assembly-2014" is held in Daghestan on May 15-June 24. The festival is supported by the Russian Ministry of Culture, the Daghestan Ministry of Culture, and the Daghestan State Philharmonic. The festival’s aims and objectives, as the organizers say, are: strengthening the place of professional music in Daghestan, showing the Daghestani the work of world-class performers, attracting young to the world’s musical values, and establishing creative contacts between the regions.
