Kaluga residents to see "The picturesque Caucasus"

Makhachkala, October 24, 2016. The exhibition "Picturesque Caucasus" by Prince Grigory Gagarin will be presented in Kaluga Museum of Fine Arts. The exhibition demonstrates the artworks from the museum collection.

The visitors can see the graphic works from the legendary editions of the XIX century "The picturesque Caucasus" (1847), including the views of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Daghestan, Chechnya, the images of the ancient monuments and battle sketches.

All the paintings were created by the best French artists based on paintings and graphic works of the painter, Prince Grigory Gagarin, whose work was very popular: even Alexander Pushkin ordered Gagarin’s illustrations to his poems. The exhibition will last till November 14.
