International conference "Persian heritage of Caucasus" takes place in Makhachkala

Makhachkala, March 17, 2014. International scientific conference "Persian heritage of Caucasus" dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Doctor of Philology, Professor Magomed-Nuri Osmanov was held at Daghestan State University, on March 14, the press service of the university informed RIA "Daghestan".

Magomed-Nuri Osman is a famous Iran historian, translator from Persian and Arabic. He is the first author of an annotated semantic translation of the Koran. For the book "The Koran: Academic Translation and Comments", he was awarded the Russian State Prize in Science and Technology. In 2003, he was awarded the title of Honoured Scientist of Russia. He also published the "Frequency Unsuri Dictionary".
This is the first author's frequency dictionary in the world’s Orientalism.The conference organized by the DSU in collaboration with the Cultural Mission of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Russia was attended by scientists and public figures from Daghestan and other regions. The conference brought together scientists from the central cities of Russia, Iran, Georgia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Bulgaria, Belarus, and Turkey.

DSU Rector Magomed Gassanov opened the conference by congratulating Magomed-Nuri Osmanov on his anniversary and pointed out his enormous contribution to literature and science. Next, the audience saw a film about the scientist’s life and work.

Then, interim the head of the Cultural Mission of the Embassy of Iran to Russia Seyyed HoseynTabatabai took the floor. Congratulating Magomed-Nuri Osmanov, he noted that the Cultural Mission of the Iran Embassy is preparing to hold a number of activities in Daghestan such as training courses in the Persian language, an exhibition of Iranian miniature, and providing conditions to attract Iranian art masters to Daghestan.

Iranian scientist Ali Modzhani was the first to present his report. He spoke about the history of relations between Iran and Caucasian peoples in different periods. Kazakhstan’s scientist Safar Abdulloev made his report on "Shahnameh and historical time".
After the plenary session, DSU students served traditional Daghestan dishes to the guests.
