Helicopter involved in quest for Hungarian scientist in Dagestan

Makhachkala, March 18, 2016. In Dagestan, special tracker teams continue search for missing Hungarian tourist. The trackers  asked the republican Interior Ministry for a helicopter, the press service of the Emergency Situations Ministry of Dagestan reports.  

"As of 10:00 MSK the tracker teams resumed search for the missing citizen of Hungary in Chirkey reservoir area. The first group of rescuers examined banks of the Sulak River. The second group together with employees of the Interior Affairs Ministry conducted visual inspection along the Sulak River. The rescue helicopter overflew the area of search together with the rescuers of Makhachkala basic search and rescue service officers onboard.

Peter Zsolt Torok, a scientist, a herpetologist, arrived in Dagestan to study reptiles. The contact with him was lost on March 7. The law enforcement officers started looking for the Hungarian since March 11. As reported, the herpetologist expected to find reptiles in Sulak canyon, but in the last telephone conversation, he said about sudden change of the route. After that, the connection with him was lost.
