Exhibition of Leo Tolstoy’s personal belongings to start in Daghestan Museum of Fine Arts

Makhachkala, November 12, 2014. An exhibition of Leo Tolstoy’s personal belongings and documentary photographs from the State Memorial and Natural Preserve "Museum-Estate Leo Tolstoy’s "Yasnaya Polyana" will start 4 pm, November 13, in the Gamzatova Daghestan Museum of Fine Arts, the organizing committee told RIA "Daghestan".

This exhibition is the first one in the series of events within a large-scale project "Tolstoy’s heritage and Caucasus (Daghestan): cultural, philosophical, moral and educational aspects" scheduled to run late November, 2014. The subprojects are:

1. The international scientific and public forum "Tolstoy’s heritage and Caucasus (Daghestan)" with the participation of Russian Presidential Adviser Vladimir Tolstoy (Leo Tolstoy’s grandson) and other nonresident VIP persons, including the CIS countries (up to 10 people),

2. An exhibition of artifacts from the State Memorial and Natural Preserve "Museum-Estate Leo Tolstoy’s "Yasnaya Polyana" in the Gamzatova Daghestan Museum of Fine Arts which is to be visited by official authorities including VIP guests from Moscow and other Russian regions,

3. A solemn ceremony of naming the №13 secondary school in Makhachkala after Leo Tolstoy with the participation of official authorities from other cities and VIP guests,

4. A solemn ceremony of donating the photo exhibition of the State Memorial and Natural Preserve "Museum-Estate Leo Tolstoy’s "Yasnaya Polyana" to the №13 secondary school in Makhachkala named after Leo Tolstoy.
