Exhibition of dolls in national costumes "Nani gur" to be held in Makhachkala

Makhachkala, March 6, 2015. An exhibition of dolls in national costumes named "Nani gur" opens in the House of Friendship on March 10 to present original works created by folk artists, painters, designers, and even students, the press service of the house told RIA Dagestan.

The event is supported by Dagestan ministry of national policy, the ministry of culture, and Dagestan State Museum. The name meaning ‘a doll’s dress’ comes from one of Avar dialects.

The aim of the exhibit is to inspire public interest in Daghestani culture and the traditional folk dolls in ethnic costumes, to stimulate specialists’ involvement in the study of costume complexes of Dagestani peoples and associated traditions, and to teach the younger generation high respect for their culture and art traditions.

The exhibition will be taking place in the hall of the Russian Peoples' Friendship Museum from March 10 till April 3.
