Makhachkala, January 26, 2016. The exhibition of Dagestani painter Timur Musaev-Kagan "Heart of a Dog” has kicked off January 25 in one of the showrooms of Makhachkala Poetry Theatre. The exhibition is dedicated to the novel by Mikhail Bulgakov "Heart of a Dog". Musaev-Kagan presented his perception of the popular novel.

"The novel “Heart of a Dog” touched me since the first showing of film in 1988. I wanted to represent this work from my point of view, but at the same time, I would like to avoid the symbolization. I saw myself in each of the characters and tried to fall into every hero. First, it seemed to me that I look like a doctor Bormental, later I thought that I resembled with Sharikov. My imaginations made me closer to the novel so, that’s why I decided to dedicated my own project to Bulgakov’s chef d'oeuvre"- the artist noted.

According to the author, the plot of the book and the film does not lose its relevance nowadays. "My artworks are primarily aimed at an educated viewer who is interested in literature and reflects on the meaning of life. Mikhail Bulgakov is a classic of modern literature and I think that every educated person should know about it. I do not want to impose anything on the person and wait for something else. The exhibition is a field for reflection, "- Timur Musaev-Kagan noted.

Speaking about the painter’s challenges, Timur noted that any study of post-modern sense leads to an endless compilation of existing layers of meaning. "These niches have already been filled long time ago and the gaps are completed. The purpose of the artist is to build something new from the existing one", - Musaev-Kagan added.

The exhibition will run until February 8.
