Caucasus to be presented at Dubai contemporary art festival

Makhachkala, February 13, 2014. The Caucasus and Central Asia will be presented at the 8th Art Dubai festival of contemporary art scheduled for 19-22 March in the Madinat Jumeirah complex in Dubai, the festival organizers told RIA "Daghestan".

During the festival, visitors will be able to see works by over 500 artists and sculptors representing 80 galleries from 35 countries. Among them are both the world famous museums and some new exhibition halls. A critical topic here is the art of artists from Central Asia and the Caucasus. This section of the exhibition is organized in partnership with the Caspian Arts Foundation monitored by the «Slavs and Tatars» creative group.

"In 2014, the «Slavs and Tatars» creative group will work as the Marker program curators at Art Dubai. The program will focus on the art of Central Asia and the Caucasus. Glorifying the deep faith, distinguishing features and linguistic diversity of these regions, Marker-2014 includes five exhibition stands and the dynamic research initiatives and creative ideas," – the press release says.

Art projects invited to the Marker- 2014 section range from state institutions to galleries and private art projects such as Art East (Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan), Asia Art + (Almaty, Kazakhstan), North Caucasus Branch of the National Center for Contemporary Art (NCCA) (Vladikavkaz, North Ossetia-Alania, Russia), Popiashvili Gvaberidze Window Project (Tbilisi, Georgia), and YARAT Contemporary Art Space (Baku, Azerbaijan).
