Makhachkala, September 12, 2014. Deputy Daghestan Prime Minister Sharip Sharipov and representatives of Israeli Yamko Yadpaz Industries LTD discussed an investment project of building greenhouses and a logistics center for 10,000 tons of goods in the Ak-Terek mountain area, Kayakent region. Yamko LTD has a vast experience of building greenhouse sin Russia, Mexico, Ukraine, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. In Israel, 95% of greenhouses are built by the company.

Israeli company’s Samuel Breutman says they’ll build a 3 hectare greenhouse on the mountain site. It will take 6-8 months to implement the project. The finished greenhouse and the storage facility can be later expanded. If the project is supported by Daghestani leadership and local population, the company will consider building a processing plant producing dried fruits and vegetables.

Sharip Sharipov said Daghestan was taking the first steps in developing the greenhouse agriculture. Last year, 10 hectares of modern greenhouses was put in operation in the republic. Today, they are building greenhouses on 30 hectares. In the years to come, they plan to build 200 hectares of greenhouses.

Samuel Breutman, in turn, noted that projects like that provide employment for the locals. He said that they had researched all the characteristics of the region: weather, soil, location, and agricultural potential and came to the conclusion that Daghestan was a good place to apply their technology in.
