Makhachkala, March 24, 2015. The first sausage making plant has been launched in Agulsky district of Dagestan. The plant has become the only meat processing enterprise in Southern Dagestan, the source in Dagestan Ministry of Agriculture and Food reports.

According to the spokesman, the capacity of the enterprise totaled more than half a ton of finished products per day. The range of products is small - only 8 kinds of sausages for the time being, but it is expected to increase the production.

The main raw material used in sausage production is the meat produced in private farms of Agulskiy district.

According to the deputy Prime Minister Sharip Sharipov, the opening of a new meat processing plant took place within the framework of Dagestan priority development projects "Effective agriculture" and acts as an additional incentive to increase the production of meat, providing employment.

"Dagestan takes the first place in the sheep and goats meat production and 6th place in beef meat production, while only a small part of meat is exposed to industrial processing, it means that agro-industrial complex of Dagestan loses a significant amount of added value.

That is why Dagestan Head tasked to intensify our efforts in attracting additional investment in product processing and logistics as a whole with an effective linking with the capabilities of existing federal and republican measures of state support of agriculture "- the vice-prime minister resumed.
