Makhachkala, August 11, 2014. The first production batch of the Caspian float glass plant to be delivered to Turkish customers has started in the Makhachkala commercial seaport. In three days, the loading being completed, the 1,080 tons of glass will head for Turkey.

Plant’s PR expert Akhmed Akhmedov commented, "This is not a single batch – till the end of October, we’ll supply a few more ships to Turkey, about 30 million tons of production in total." He added that earlier, they had sent four carriages of a test batch of glass to consumers in Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, plus supplies in the domestic market.

The Caspian float glass plant is a large-scale private investment project which includes building an industrial enterprise producing 600 tons of flat glass per day applying the latest glass-making technology. The plant produces both tinted and reflective glass in bulk and low emissivity coating.

Acting Director General of Makhachkala commercial seaport Nurmagomed Nurmagomedov stressed that this had been their first export of Daghestan-made finished products. He said it didn’t take them long to prepare the glass for loading, and added that shipping was much cheaper a delivery than railing or trucking.
