Derbent sparkling wine factory intends to plant vineyards on the area of 1000 ha

Makhachkala, March 12, 2014. This year Derbent sparkling wines factory will plant vineyards on the area of 1000 hectares, the press service of Daghestani ministry of agriculture and food reports.

“At the moment, the vineyard is planting saplings in southern Daghestan , in the fields located near the village of Gedzhuh. This spring, Derbent sparkling wines factory schedules to complete planting on 1,000 hectares of leased land and to equip it with drip irrigation system" - the spokesman noted.

According to the source, specialists did an enormous volume of work: they cleared the fields of weeds and old overgrown vineyards on the territory of 1000 ha. On 900 hectares, there were planted high-quality seedlings, grown in Serbia. The territory is equipped with drip irrigation system from the famous Israeli firm.

Let us remind, that in 2013 the gross harvest of grapes in Daghestan exceeded 135 thousand tons, and in 2012, the harvest made only 59 thousand tons.
