Makhachkala, April 26, 2016. More than 6.7 million rubles from the federal budget will be allocated to the republic of Dagestan for the seed production development in the region. At the same time, Dagestani farmers are provided with seeds of grain crops only by 60%, while the elite seeds are entirely imported from the neighboring regions.

Last year, the republic imported 1.8 tons of elite seeds of winter crops from the neighboring regions, allowing to plant approx. 7.5 hectares. Taking into account the elite spring crops, the total area under elite crops in Dagestan amounted to about 24 thousand hectares in 2015, which is above the intended target of the indicator by 0.25%.

Recall last year, 10.5 million rubles were allocated from the federal budget for the seed-farming development, of these 360 thousand rubles from the regional. According to the republican agriculture ministry, the economic crisis and severe budget savings cause the lack of regional support.
