Makhachkala, August 24, 2015. In the first half of 2015, Dagestan produced more than 498 thousand pieces of bottled cognac, the Ministry of Economic Development of the republic reports. This is 12% less compared to the same period in 2014. The reason for decrease is the weak sales of goods.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development, in the first six months, the enterprises most effectively used the production facilities for bottled champagne and cognac.

"This is explained by the fact that 85% of cognac and champagne produced in the Republic is sold abroad. Less efficiently were used the production facilities for vodka and wine grape wines. One of the main reasons for this is that the vodka produced in Dagestan is predominately sold in the Republic, and more than 90% of vodka sold in Dagestan is imported and presented to the consumers in a wide range."
