Agricultural production adds 8.7% in Dagestan in 2014

Makhachkala, February 2, 2015. The volume of agricultural production grew by 8.7%in Dagestan in 2014 as compared with 2013 - up to 86,508.6 million rubles, says the official website of the Dagestan office on the Federal Service of State Statistics.

Crop production increased by 10.8% - up to 37,016.7 million rubles, in livestock - by 7.1% - up to 49,491.9 million rubles.
In 2014, all kinds of farms crops were chamfered and threshed on an area of 105,400 hectares, which is 13.8% more than in the previous year. Of them, 256,000 tons of grains were threshed (+19.1%). Corn was harvested from 19,600 hectares (20,700 hectares in 2013) – 72,300 tons (71,500 tons in 2013). The corn yield proved to be 36.91 centners per hectare (34.51 centners in 2013). Potatoes were cropped over an area of 22,100 hectares. (21,900 in 2013) – 359,500 tons (335,600 tons in 2013), with 1 hectare bringing 162,800 centners (153.2 centners per hectare in 2013).

Vegetables were cropped on 40,700 hectares (40,600 hectares in 2013) yielding 1,293,800 tons of vegetables (1,117,500 tons in 2013), 1 hectare gave 317.5 centners of vegatables (275.4 centners per hectare in 2013). Gross harvest of grapes in 2014 amounted to 137,200 tons, which is 0.7% more than in 2013. Fruits and berries yielded 108,100 tons, which is 10.6% less than in the previous year.

Meat production (live weight) in 2014 increased by 11.9% - up to 212,700 tons, milk - by 4.9% - up to 792,100 tons, and eggs - by 15.3% - up to 217,900,000 pieces.

As of January 1, 2015, the number of cattle in farms of all types mounted by 2% - up to 990,400 heads, sheep and goats added 3.1% - up to 5,141,600 heads, and poultry rose by 10.6% - up to 1,947,000 heads.
