1st Series of "Tour of Russia" to be devoted to Daghestan

Makhachkala, March 14, 2014. The 1st series of the "Tour of Russia" programs to be presented on March 16 in the Moscow "Sputnik" cinema will be devoted to Daghestan, the press service of the Daghestan Mission at the Russian President informed RIA "Daghestan".

The series will feature films, documentaries, and other types of interactive activities to showcase Russia’s grace and diversity of traditions and customs of Russia’s peoples.

The first night of the series dedicated to Daghestan was organized by "Moscow Cinema" and the Moscow Government’s Department of Culture with the support of Daghestan Mission at the Russian President.

The key event here was showing Alexei Korenev’s film named "Adam and Heva" ("Mosfilm" cinema studio, USSR, 1969) filmed on Dargin writer Akhmedkhan Abu Bakar’s script based on his novel "People of Snow". Famous Dagestan composer and USSR People’s Artist Murad Kazhlaev is the author of the music to the film.

The program also includes interactive master classes by Daghestan masters of pottery and carpet weaving, seeing the national arts and crafts (marquetry , Kubachi jewelry), national songs and dances, and sampling highland tea. In addition, the visitors will be able to see a photograph exhibition by Ivan Dementievsky dedicated to celebration of the 2000th anniversary of Derbent  in the foyer of the cinema.
