Makhachkala, October 17, 2012. On October 16, on the initiative of the Youth Policy Committee of the Republic of Dagestan in Derbent a group of volunteers arrived in flood-hit Derbent to help the local residents to eliminate the consequences of disaster. The squad of volunteers includes the representatives of all the higher education institutions of Makhachkala. They participate in the clearing up work, trash collection, humanitarian aid transportation and rendering psychological support to the victims.

In an interview with the RIA "Dagestan" the chairman of the Youth Policy Committee RD Zaur Kahrimanov pointed out that the students themselves expressed desire to reach out to the residents of Derbent. In total 180 students volunteers were involved.
