Makhachkala, January 24, 2012. On January 23 the city of Kislovodsk hosted the Forum of peoples of Southern Russia devoted to discussion of issues of inter-ethnic relations, economic and social development of the Southern and the North Caucasian Federal districts. Dagestan delegation led by the Head of the republic Magomedsalam Magomedov takes part in the Forum too. It consisted of about forty people: well-known politicians, artists, representatives of the scientific intelligentsia, religious leaders and athletes.

In total, the forum involves more than 300 people, the representatives of 13 Russian regions – the subjects of the Southern and the North Caucasian Federal Districts. Among them - the representatives of major regional associations, youth movements, clergy, Councils of Elders, Cossack organizations that joined the All-Russia People's Front and the workers of culture, education and science.

The main topics of the Forum were the current state and the prospects of development of interethnic relations, the work with youth, the issues of socio-economic development of the SFD and the NCFD, the fight against corruption, crime and terrorism. Before the event starts the Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin addressed the Forum participants with a greeting speech.
Let us remind that the first event of such kind - the Public Forum of Peoples of Caucasus and southern Russia had taken place in Sochi in March 2004.
