Makhachkala, January 23, 2012. The Red Wings airline Company is considering the possibility of launching regular flights from Makhachkala, the owner of the carrier businessman Alexander Lebedev told at the international airshow in Bahrain. Talks on opening flights are already underway with the government of the republic. The airline Company can take the place of "Dagestan Airlines" which had lost the certificate of operator at the end of last year.
The top managers of Red Wings have not yet specified how many planes will be based in Makhachkala, it is assumed that the carrier will arrange two flights a day to Moscow and several flights to international destinations. Dubai, Istanbul and Baku were voiced among the possible destinations.
The Red Wings mainly works with charter flights but looks forward to get an opportunity to diversify its business and return to the regular flights segment. The carrier needs new markets, as charter tourist destinations were severely affected by the political instability in several countries, primarily in Egypt. Lebedev admitted that the Red Wings lost about $ 12 million for the Egyptian Events last year. The company finished 2011 with a loss of 700 million rubles.
