Kaspiisk, November 16, 2011. Today, November 16, the town of Kaspiisk commemorated the victims of the terrorist attacks committed on the night from November 15 to November 16, 1996. The ceremony on this occasion brought together officials of the municipal administration, Frontier Guard top officers and the people not indifferent to the fate of their native town.

Let us remind 15 years ago the 9-storey 82-apartment block house in Kaspiisk inhabited by the families of Russian border guards from the Caspian special border unit, the separate squadron and the operational troop "Makhachkala" of the Caucasian special border district was blown. 68 people died of whom 55 border guards and the members of their families, including 21 children.

Opening the meeting the deputy Chief of the Border Guard Department of the FSS of Russia in Dagestan, Major-General Alexander Ektov said that the terrorists failed to break the spirit of the border guards. The victims of the terrorist act have been honored by a moment of silence. After the commemoration meeting Kaspiisk church held a civil funeral.
