Makhachkala, March 17, 2010. On March 16, the meeting with participation of the president of the Republic of Dagestan concerning strategic development of hydro-power engineering of Dagestan took place in Kaspiisk.

The chairman of the government of the republic Magomed Abdulaev, the head of the administration of the president and the administration of the government of Dagestan Gasan Idrisov and heads of the several ministries, departments and the power companies of the republic took part in the meeting.

Opening the meeting work, the president M. Magomedov said: “The purpose of our visit is the desire to familiarize with the state of affairs in hydro-power engineering of the republic which is one of leading branches of economy of Dagestan. It is necessary to make decisions for the further dynamical development of this branch. We have the big historical experience of variety of large achievements in power industry. But at the same time it is necessary to think that we should not lose our positions in this sphere of economy. But we have some problems. Dagestan, holding more than 50 % of all hydroelectric resources of North Caucasian Federal District, can not always satisfy own requirements in the electric power. We should become serious participants of the market of the electric power”.

Then the director of the branch “RusHydro” T. Gamzatov read the report about condition and prospects of development of power engineering of Dagestan. He said about historical formation of hydroelectric branch of the republic and about work of the Dagestan branch for today.

Summing up the meeting results, in conversation with journalists of the republican mass-media the head of Dagestan Magomedsalam Magomedov said: “We have held very productive meeting, discuss prospects of development of water-power engineering in the republic.

The meeting has shown a condition of the branch. I consider that the Dagestan enterprises should be involved in production of the equipment for hydroelectric power stations”.
