Makhachkala, January 16, 2008. At the first current year’s working meeting, held in the municipal administration of Makhachkala, the mayor Said Amirov began his speech with stating the facts of strained and criminogenic situation on the New Year’s Eve in the city of Makhachkala.

Representatives of law enforcement bodies, members of the city antiterrorist commission, the City Council and the municipal administration participated in the meeting.

“A series of similar crimes has not been ceased for a long time. Generals, as well as private soldiers are assassinated. Law enforcement bodies should give a report on measures taken for security strengthening,” - S.Amirov told.
According to the mayor, frequent change of chiefs of departments negatively affects work of law-enforcement bodies. During the last four months three chiefs of Kirovski Regional Department of Interior Ministry have been replaced.

Magomed Zukhumov, the deputy chief of Makhachkala municipal Department of RD Interior Ministry informed on the operative situation in the city. The senior officer assured that all the measures would be taken for security of militia department officers, as well as of all the citizens to preserve law and order in the city.

The Security Department along with the Department of Interior Ministry form specialized preventive centers. The head of the Security Department A.Omarov gave a talk on the agenda. “One of these days there will be prepared regulations on the preventive centers’ formation in districts,” - Omarov told.

Besides, as to Omarov, the mayor made a decision on encouraging the best district police officers with apartments and land lots.
